There are numerous people who are trying to lose weight but without success and they have no one to blame but their own effort (or the lack of it). There are various diet “tips and tricks” online that people follow, but did you know that you need to follow just a set of simple rules that could really help you towards your goal?
These are 8 rules you need to follow if you want to lose weight:
REDUCE YOUR CARB INTAKE
If you want to lose weight, you have to start counting calories. Generally, you need to consume 500 calories less than the usual if you want to lose weight. In case you have slow metabolism, eating a lesser amount of carbs will accelerate it and you are going to notice the first results in just a few weeks.
THE SCALE LIES
Once you start working out and consuming a healthy diet, don’t jump on the scale immediately as you may be disappointed. Losing weight happens gradually, and you probably are going to notice the change in your looks before seeing massive changes on the scale. Rather than standing on the scale every day, look at yourself in the mirror and you notice how the process goes.
In case you want to lose weight and have lean muscle, you should add weight training in your daily workout routine. Cardio could get you in shape, but it doesn’t work on the muscles, and that is why you have to start lifting.
MORNING ROUTINES ARE BEST
Working out in the morning on an empty stomach is going to bring positive results pretty quickly. Do at least 10 minutes of exercising in the morning and you are going to see the results soon.
If you want to lose weight, you’ll also need to reduce the meals. Cut down the portions in half and eat 4-5 smaller meals during the day rather than 3 big ones in order to accelerate the metabolism. The smaller portions should include carbs and proteins and also healthy fats for perfect balance.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
In general, you need to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day – this is going to improve your digestion and metabolism, effectively making you lose weight. Set up reminders to drink water on your smartphone or stick post-it notes on the fridge in order to drink the recommended amount of water during the day.
PLAN YOUR MEALS CAREFULLY
In place of entering the market and getting the first junk food that you see, plan what you are going to eat during the day – which needs to include the snacks before lunch. A pre-prepared meal plan is going to help you eat healthy and smaller portions so you won’t go hungry during the day.
GO TO BED EARLIER
Experts recommend to have your last meal at least 3 hours before you go to sleep and sleeping at least 7-9 hours. Not enough sleep could disrupt the levels of your hormones and make the body store fat and that obviously wasn’t your plan.
